Marine navigation

Of course, sea-going passenger and merchandise transportation causes pollution. What mass transport means does not cause pollution today?
On a per passenger or per ton of merchandise basis, sea-going transportation is practically the most economical and the least polluting. However, this should not exonerate passenger and merchandise sea transportation companies – or dredging, towing, research, monitoring, etc. companies – from working to optimize their consumption further and chose fuels and diesel fuels that produce the least pollutant gasses, including greenhouse gases such as CO2. Citizens must, for example, prefer travelling on a ferry demonstrably less polluting for our seas and ports.

Tugboats, in particular harbour tugs, work in pretty harsh conditions for the engines : low loads most of the time, sudden accelerations, back to idle, etc ... Many large towage and salvage companies in Europe have made the choice to use the Xbee enzyme fuel treatment to improve the performances of the engines, to clean up carbon deposits and to avoid too much smoke and particles at the exhaust.
One of the dutch leaders of harbour towage, Multraship Towage and Salvage, also entrusted Xbee to improve the conditions of work of its tugs, and to eliminate the smokes.
